Creating the perfect Thanksgiving meal doesn’t have to be simply turkey, potatoes, and other common dishes. Spice up this holiday season by trying a new recipe and get the feedback of the whole family. Someone could find a new favorite, after all. Here are a few of the best Thanksgiving recipes to spice up your holiday from us here at Babylon Honda.
• Spiced Cranberry Sauce with Orange and Star Anise – This simple recipe starts by gathering allspice and star anise in a square cheesecloth and tying it into a sachet. Add sugar, orange juice, and a quarter of a cup of water to a medium pot. Add the sachet and stir until the sugar melts and bubbles form (roughly five minutes). Let it steep for 10 minutes away from the heat. Once time has passed, add the pot back to the heat and introduce cranberries. After seven minutes, get rid of the sachet and refrigerate the sauce until chilled.
• Roasted Turkey – Start this recipe by preheating the oven to 325 degrees and rinsing the turkey in cold water, draining it, and patting it dry. Add a teaspoon for salt and half a teaspoon of pepper to the cavity. Stuff it with onions and carrots and then tie the legs together. Place the turkey breast side up then rub butter under and over the skin. Rub the skin with a teaspoon of salt and pepper then tent it in aluminum foil. Roast the turkey for one hour, then baste it with the juices and continue roasting. Remove the foil and continue to roast the turkey, basting it every half hour, until the thermometer reaches 170 degrees. Let the turkey sit for 20 minutes. Then remove the ties, carrots, and onions. Drain the juices and serve with gravy.
