Honda Advocates for Drivers to “Remove the Distractions”

Distracted Driving Awareness Month

April is Distracted Driving Awareness Month, and Honda working hard to raise awareness with its “Remove the Distractions” social media campaign of short videos and informative posts. The series is meant to raise awareness about distracted driving and the dangers therein.

Honda’s “Remove the Distractions” series consists of four short 10-second videos, which explore a range of driving experiences when a text message pops up on the driver’s cell phone. The video cleverly takes away the surrounding outdoor landscape when the text message appears, blocking out the beautiful scenery you miss when you’re distracted on your phone while driving. Honda ends the videos with the line, “When your attention is on your phone, you miss what happens on the road.” Not only do you miss out on enjoying the outdoor landscapes of your driving experience, but you can also put yourself in dangerous road situations.

Throughout Distracted Driving Awareness Month, Honda will be posting statistics and information about how common distracted driving is in out society, encouraging drivers to “Remove the Distractions” to have safer, more enjoyable driving experiences.

When you get behind the wheel, you are charged with task of transporting yourself and all your passengers safely and enjoyably. We encourage all drivers to make the best choices to achieve this end, which includes eliminating as many distractions as possible while driving. This doesn’t mean you can’t stay entertained and connected while on the go, just use your smartphone in a responsible way while driving: connect it to your infotainment system if possible so you never have to pick it up, and don’t respond to messages until you’ve arrived at your destination.

To learn more about features on your Honda that prevent distracted driving, come talk to the team at Babylon Honda.

Spring Vehicle Maintenance Tips to Keep Your Car Running Smoothly

Winter snow is thawing, and spring showers are finally here, which means it’s time to do some maintenance on your vehicle. Here are some spring vehicle maintenance tips from Babylon Honda to keep your car in shape as the weather warms up.

Get rid of the salt from winter. Throughout the winter, roads are typically covered in salt to help melt ice and snow. This salt can do some serious damage to your vehicle, so make sure you clean it to get rid of the salt – especially the undercarriage.

See to your vehicle’s routine oil change. Bring your vehicle in for its routine check-up and ask your mechanic to change the oil and also check your fluids. Spring is an ideal time to flush your transmission fluid, so make sure you do that as well.

Check your vehicle’s tire pressure and rotate them. When the outside temperature fluctuates, so does the pressure of your tires. If they’re outside the recommended pressure range, either add more air to them or deflate them slightly. Also, make sure your tires are rotated every 5,000 miles to help keep the wear on your tires’ tread even.

Inspect your vehicle’s brakes. Brakes are the most important part of your vehicle, so have your technician check the pads and rotors to make sure they’re still in tip-top condition.

Look over your vehicle’s alignment. Potholes can cause your vehicle’s alignment and suspension to suffer, so make sure you get them both checked out.

Good Housekeeping Best New Car Awards Go to Accord and Odyssey

Good Housekeeping has been the go-to source for many people who are interested in finding the best-of-the-best products out there. These products could range from the best cooking supplies to the best vehicles.

The Awards

Now, this popular magazine has decided that the 2018 Honda Accord and Odyssey, which are available at Babylon Honda now, are considered the best in their class, awarding them the Good Housekeeping Best New Car Awards.

The Selection Process

Winners of the Best New Car Awards were chosen through Good Housekeeping’s partnership with Car & Driver magazine. These two magazines jointly rated hundreds of new vehicles, looking at the features that drivers tend to care about most – value, safety, reliability, handling, interior design, comfort, noise levels, and technology.

Why the Honda Accord & Odyssey

The Accord and Odyssey both earned the top spot in their segments in their own ways. For the Accord, this mean standing out with premium styling, interior, driving dynamics, long list of features, and engine options.

The 2018 Odyssey came out on top by raising the bar to better meet the needs of American families. This includes better performance, a quieter cabin, more family-friendly interior space, and a combination of both comfort and connectivity.

These two winning vehicles were featured in the February issue of Good Housekeeping and you can see them for yourself now. For more information about the Good Housekeeping Best New Car Awards or to test drive a new Accord or Odyssey, visit us at Babylon Honda.

How to Keep a New Year’s Resolution

If you want to make a New Year’s resolution, but are afraid of messing it up, you’re not alone. A lot of folks are unsure of how to keep a New Year’s resolution for the entire calendar year and beyond. In hopes of making 2018 a successful year, the team at Babylon Honda has picked our favorite tips for keeping resolutions.

Pick Something Realistic

One of the keys to keeping your resolution is picking the right one. You need to make your resolution meaningful to you, but you also need to word it in a way that sets up a specific, doable goal. For example, rather than saying you want to save money, pick a specific amount of money to save each month that’s based on your monthly earnings so that it’s realistic and achievable.

Make a Plan

To keep your resolution going strong all year, you’ll need to stay in touch with it. Make a plan for sticking to your intentions, whether that be checking in with a friend who can hold you accountable or keeping a journal about your progress.

Persevere

No matter how far you may stray from your goals, remember that you can always get back on track. When it becomes hard to stay positive, turn to a friend for support. At the end of the year, you’ll feel good knowing that you continued your efforts and followed through, even if there were a few hurdles along the way.

These are just a few tips for staying on track with your New Year’s resolutions. If you’re resolving to buy a new Honda, then Babylon Honda can help you make that goal a reality.

Simple Ways to Make Your New Year’s Eve Party Great

New Year’s Eve symbolizes a fresh start for many, which is why it’s important to celebrate the holiday in the right way. If you’re planning to throw a New Year’s Eve party this year, there are a few things you can do to make life a little easier.

According to Real Simple, drinks and snacks are a must. It may be best to create a diverse spread, including healthy options as well as more traditional snacks. For example, you can have chips and dip, shrimp cocktails, and quiches, but also provide carrot sticks, almonds, and olives for those who may want to start their resolutions to eat healthy early.

Next, have some games ready. Nothing kills a party like an awkward silence, so have some fun party games ready to go as icebreakers. You can write everyone’s resolution on a card and take turns guessing who wrote it, or you can also play a fill-in-the-blank game with resolutions to help get the ball rolling. The best games are the simple ones, so don’t overthink it.

Finally, get some tunes ready. While “Auld Lang Syne” is a classic, there are a few songs you may want to add to your playlist. These include “Happy New Year” by ABBA, “It’s Just Another New Year” by Barry Manilow, and “This is the New Year” by A Great Big World. These tunes will set the perfect mood for your next New Year’s Eve bash.
